Model 1937 Reichsfinanzverwaltung Dagger for Customs Officers
Manufacturer: Clemen & Jung, Solingen
An outstanding example of the 1937 pattern Reichsfinanzverwaltung dagger, produced by the renowned Solingen maker Clemen & Jung.
The double-edged blade remains in exceptional condition, showing a clean surface with clearly visible longitudinal grain under light. The maker’s mark “Clemen & Jung Solingen” and the shield with the letter “Z” are sharply and precisely executed. The blade ends in a finely formed tip and is firmly seated in the hilt. Blade condition is rated Very Good++ / Near Mint.
The scabbard, with a wooden core, is covered in green textured leather, now slightly faded from age, as shown in the photographs. Three diagonal steel fittings feature the distinctive grooved pattern associated with this model. The scabbard fits snugly to the hilt.
The crossguard, depicting a soaring customs eagle, is crafted in aluminum with a silvered finish, displaying crisp detail. The ferrule and pommel, also aluminum and silver-plated, are adorned with finely rendered acanthus leaf motifs. The grip is wrapped in double twisted wire and covered in leather matching the scabbard’s tone; the leather has gently aged and faded but remains intact.
All construction and design traits correspond precisely to the specifications of Clemen & Jung. A solid, well-preserved, and high-quality piece — a desirable addition to any advanced collection.
