World War I steel trench combat knife.
The blade is in excellent condition. The ricasso bears a stamped inscription “Führer Fabrik Solingen 1940”, applied directly by stamping. The inscription dates to the period of manufacture.
The hilt features metal fittings painted black and is fitted with horn grip panels. The grips are in excellent condition, with no damage, showing a fine diamond checkering pattern and secured with rivets. The grip has a pleasant natural patina consistent with age.
The scabbard is in excellent condition with its original black painted finish. It comes with the original leather belt frog. The leather is soft and supple, with no cracks or damage.
An excellent and authentic piece for any World War I edged weapons collection. This knife was likely intended for officer use.
