A rare and high-quality diplomatic dress sword manufactured by Alcoso immediately after World War II. Following the end of the war, this Solingen maker continued to operate using its original pre-war equipment and tooling, producing select pieces for the civilian and commemorative market. This example is a finely crafted post-war version of a classic military dress sword, faithfully replicating the look and feel of an original.
The nickel-plated steel blade features elegant engraved scrollwork and is marked correctly with the Alcoso Solingen stamp, displaying the same design cues found on period pieces.
The crossguard is fully silver-plated with a distinctive dimpled eagle and wings motif. The grip panels are genuine mother-of-pearl and are a perfect fit, matching the quality and proportions of an original sword design.
The leather scabbard with matching silver-plated chape is in excellent condition and complements the overall presentation of this dress sword.
This sword is in excellent overall condition and retains all decorative elements, making it visually almost indistinguishable from the original military production. Original wartime diplomatic swords command very high prices today and are often beyond the reach of many collectors. This post-war Alcoso example offers an opportunity to own a superb quality piece with authentic appearance at a significantly more accessible price point.
Note: Produced after WWII on original Alcoso manufacturing equipment. Not an original wartime issue, but an outstanding example of high-quality post-war craftsmanship.
