The Germany - Third Reich Bronze Medal “Accession of the Ostmark into the German Reich” 1938 is a historically significant item from the time of the Third Reich in Germany. This bronze medal was created in 1938 by H. E. Hanisch and Consée to commemorate the annexation of the Ostmark into the German Reich, which took place on March 13, 1938.
The obverse of the medal features a right-facing bust of Adolf Hitler, with the inscription “GROSSDEUTSCHLAND'S SCHÖPFER” encircling the portrait, and an olive branch behind his neck. The reverse side shows a view of the bridge over the Inn River, topped by an Austrian eagle with a large swastika, along with the inscription “DIE OSTMARK IST HEIMGEKEHRT 13.3.1938.”
The medal is struck in bronze, 36 mm in diameter, and marked “Hauptmünzamt Wien” on the rim. It is in nice condition, showcasing the craftsmanship of the period and holding strong historical significance for collectors. It serves as a tangible reminder of the events surrounding the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany and the expansion of the Third Reich.
The medal comes in its original case of issue for the “BRONZE” grade. The presentation box is yellow, with a golden border on the lid and a soft yellow velvet interior lining. On the bottom inside of the box is a marking indicating “Bronze.” The case is in excellent, almost perfect condition.
