A metal field canteen from the World War II period, used as part of the standard equipment issued to members of the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth) organization.
The piece is in excellent condition: original felt cover with four snap fasteners, intact leather strap and metal carabiner. The screw cap bears the manufacturer’s mark “HRE41”, indicating 1941 production.
This canteen is a genuine example of German field equipment of the era and is preserved in private collections and museum displays for the study of material culture from World War II.
