An original early Kriegsmarine officer’s dress dagger in exceptionally high condition. This example represents an early-period production, clearly reflected in the quality of manufacture and the distinctive early maker’s mark.
The nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade features double narrow fullers and is decorated with crisp, double-sided etched designs depicting a fouled anchor and traditional maritime motifs. The blade is in outstanding condition, entirely free from staining, corrosion, or damage, with the etching fully preserved and the surface clean and bright.
The reverse ricasso bears the early Carl Eickhorn, Solingen maker’s mark, executed as a squirrel with sword within an oval, accompanied by the inscription “Carl Eickhorn Solingen”, a hallmark of early Eickhorn production. The blade locks securely into the crossguard via the push-button release mechanism.
The gilded bronze crossguard, pommel, and scabbard are all in excellent condition and display a beautiful, natural, uniform patina. All metal components share a consistent tone, giving the dagger a cohesive and visually harmonious appearance.
The grip is constructed of white ribbed celluloid, free from damage, retaining its original twisted wire wrap. The pommel is formed as a gilded Kriegsmarine eagle with swastika.
The scabbard is original and of the rare “scaly” pattern type, finished in gilded bronze, and is free from dents, deformation, or damage.
The dagger is accompanied by its original Kriegsmarine officer’s portepee, well preserved and without damage or losses, as well as its original officer’s hanger with fabric straps, gilded fittings, and chain.
A fully original, complete early example in excellent collectible condition, offering strong visual presence, correct components, and harmonious overall preservation.
