Offered here is a rare German Forestry Service (Forst) hunting dagger from the Second World War, manufactured by F. W. Höller, Solingen. The dagger is in excellent condition, retaining its beautiful original fire-gilded finish, now covered with an attractive, naturally aged patina. The ricasso bears a crisp maker's mark of this highly respected Solingen manufacturer, well known among collectors of German edged weapons.

The hilt and decorative clamshell guard are exceptionally well preserved, retaining their original gilded finish, which has developed a beautiful dark patina that enhances the dagger's authentic appearance. This is the desirable early version manufactured from solid brass rather than the later zinc alloy model.

The steel blade retains its full original length and profile and is beautifully etched on both sides with detailed hunting scenes typical of deluxe Forestry Service daggers.

Between the grip and the crossguard is a rare decorative feature—an eagle with outstretched wings clutching a swastika. This design is found only on a limited number of examples and is a distinctive feature of Third Reich-era daggers, making this piece especially desirable to collectors.

The scabbard is of the deluxe pattern, constructed of soft black leather with gilded brass fittings. The leather is free from damage, retains its original tight stitching, and shows only light signs of use. The original green felt buffer pad between the grip and the scabbard is still present.

An excellent opportunity to acquire a rare and beautifully preserved German Forestry Service dagger that would make a centerpiece in any advanced collection.
