Offered here is an excellent example of a German fireman’s dress dagger (Feuerwehr Seitengewehr), produced by Rudolf Buchel, Solingen - Merscheld – a detail clearly visible on the blade etching. The dagger features a full-length, nickel-plated blade in mint condition, with no signs of sharpening or damage.
The crossguard bears the unit marking “F.F. CH. 69”, which typically denotes a specific volunteer fire department (Freiwillige Feuerwehr) and unit number.
The black grip has molded checkering and features an inlaid emblem: a traditional fireman’s helmet over crossed axe and pick, denoting fire service affiliation. The grip plates are firmly secured with rivets and show no damage.
The dagger comes with its original scabbard, still retaining its factory black paint, with only minor wear consistent with age – no repaint. Included is the original black leather hanger (often referred to as a “frog”) and the original portepee (knot) – a rare and desirable addition, completing this very collectible ensemble.
This is a high-quality, all-original set, ideal for discerning collectors of German edged weapons or fire service memorabilia.
