This figure of a standard-bearer was produced by the well-known Berlin workshop Oskar Schacher GmbH & Co. Cast in zinc with a bronze finish and set on a solid marble base, the work demonstrates fine detailing and careful craftsmanship. The sculpture includes a detachable flagpole designed to fit into the figure’s hand. The bronze surface remains in excellent condition, while the flag—characteristically lacking a finial—is also well preserved.
As a representative example of Schacher’s work in metal during the early 20th century, the piece reflects the stylistic and technical qualities associated with the firm’s production.
