An original and extremely rare SG42 Bayonet. The SG42 Bayonet was designed to replace the standard German bayonet of World War Two. It was produced in limited numbers. The SG42 Bayonet doubled as a fighting knife, and with the addition of a multi-tool that fits neatly inside the grip, it was also a versatile tool suitable for use on the frontlines.
The blade of the bayonet is 7 inches (18 cm) long and is made of steel. The blade is in excellent condition. It is marked on the ricasso with “COF” and the Waffenamt mark WaA519, indicating manufacture by the firm Carl Eickhorn. The grip consists of riveted bakelite plates, which are in excellent condition with no cracks. The bayonet lug attachment mechanism is in perfect working order.
The tool kit is in near mint condition. The multi-tool retains 99% of its original bluing. Each of the three tools—knife/can opener, screwdriver/wire stripper, and pick—is in unaltered condition and functions perfectly. The knife/can opener is marked with “LTK.” The tool kit fits securely into the handle.
The scabbard of the SG42 Bayonet is made of bakelite and features a steel belt clip. The bakelite sheath is in near mint condition, with no cracks or chips. Please note: the original belt clip has been lost and is no longer present. This is the only noted deficiency, and the pricing reflects this.
