Early M33 SA dagger by Aesculap, Tuttlingen, in very good condition. The blade is in perfect condition and shows almost no damage, except for minor marks from the scabbard springs. The crossguard is reverse-marked “Sw” (Südwest). All metal fittings retain their nickel-plated finish. An attractive early dagger by the well-known and desirable manufacturer Aesculap. The company logo is located on the reverse ricasso and consists of double round circles enclosing the firm’s name and location, Aesculap, Tuttlingen. Inside the circles is a crown over a staff entwined with a snake. As most collectors know, Aesculap’s primary business was the manufacture of medical instruments, and this logo was used on early SA daggers produced during the period of mass production to meet the enormous demand. The blade shoulders perfectly match the contour of the lower crossguard.
The scabbard is in excellent condition and has largely retained its original finish.
This early SA dagger would be a fine addition to any collection.
