A rare, museum-grade dress sabre of a staff officer of the Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine), early 20th century.

This exceptional piece showcases the finest craftsmanship and ornamental detail, produced in Solingen for the elite of the Imperial Navy. The sabre impresses with both its preservation and artistic execution.

Grip – Multi-part construction, in excellent condition with no damage or cracks. Finished in fire-gilding and decorated with oak leaves, acorns, and a raised anchor with an intricate design. Topped with a majestic lion's head featuring red and green glass eyes. The mane is hand-chiseled, and the tang is cleverly concealed within it — a sign of top-tier weaponry.

Scabbard – Elegant leather, very well preserved, with all seams intact. Fitted with three richly decorated metal fittings, each fastened with a single staple. Unlike standard brass-mounted scabbards, this sabre features full metal fittings, indicating that it belonged to a staff officer, not a line naval officer.

Blade – Mirror-polished steel with superb etching featuring Imperial symbolism: anchors, eagles, flags, a sailing ship, Poseidon's trident, vine leaves, and botanical motifs. A masterful blend of mythological and maritime themes. The original red felt washer is still present and intact. Blade is rated Exc++ — exceptional plus plus. The tip and the fit are perfect.

Ricasso – Marked with the crisp logo of ALCOSO (Alexander Coppel GmbH, Solingen) — a renowned Solingen manufacturer supplying edged weapons to the Imperial German military.

Personalization – On the reverse side of the guard are engraved initials W. Müller, most likely the original owner — a naval staff officer.

Overall condition is outstanding. For a sabre of this age and quality, such preservation is rare — a true dream piece for any serious collector of edged weapons or historical military artifacts.
