An original deluxe hunting cutlass manufactured by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, during the Third Reich period.
The blade, approximately 25.4 cm in length, features an attractive deep black finish and is decorated with finely etched hunting scenes depicting deer, dogs, and foxes. A decorative oak leaf pattern runs along the upper edge of the blade. The blade is in excellent condition, showing only light signs of age. The manufacturer's marking is present on the reverse of the blade.
The metal fittings of the hilt retain their silver plating, with an attractive appearance and an even, natural patina. The crossguard and protective guard feature finely crafted details and demonstrate the high quality of manufacture.
The handle is made of natural stag horn, displaying beautiful natural coloration ranging from rich reddish hues to lighter yellow and darker tones. It is adorned with the emblem of the German Hunting Association (Deutscher Jagdverband, DJ). The horn is in excellent condition, without cracks or chips. The pommel is carefully fitted to the handle and decorated with silver-plated ornamental elements.
The scabbard is covered in dark green textured leather. The metal chape and throat feature decorative detailing and retain their original silver plating. The metal fittings are in very good condition, without noticeable dents, and retain traces of the original factory protective lacquer.
Overall, this hunting cutlass is in very good collector's condition and represents an impressive example of German hunting edged weapons from the Third Reich period, distinguished by its high-quality craftsmanship, elaborate decoration, and attractive appearance.
