This German Heer Dagger is an exquisite, top-quality example of the standard German Army officer’s dagger. The steel blade is bright and beautiful, very well preserved, and displays excellent cross-graining. The reverse ricasso of the blade is crisply etched with the “squirrel” logo of Carl Eickhorn, a maker well known for its high-quality craftsmanship.
The handle on this dagger is gorgeous and features an eye-catching yellow Trylon grip that is free of chips, cracks, or damage. The crossguard and pommel are in very nice condition with a light, attractive patina. On the reverse side of the crossguard, the owner’s monogram “AK” is stamped.
The dagger comes complete with its original scabbard. The scabbard shows crisp pebbling and retains both original suspension rings. The scabbard body displays an even patina that matches perfectly with the metal fittings on the handle.
Also included is the original portepee (knot), which is in excellent condition with no tears or damage. The hanger is also original and remains in excellent condition.
Overall, this is truly a very fine dagger with exceptional eye appeal. The condition rates as a very strong excellent plus.
