An excellent example of a short KS 98 single-etched dress bayonet, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn. The nickel-plated blade is in excellent condition and features acid-etched decoration on the obverse, bearing the inscription “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN MEINE DIENSTZEIT” (“In memory of my time in service”), flanked by a steel helmet and a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika.
On one side of the ricasso there is a maker’s mark in the form of a squirrel with the inscription “Eickhorn Solingen.”
The hilt is fitted with nickel-plated metal mounts (with light speckling) and black plastic grip plates in the traditional checkered “waffle” pattern.
The set includes the original black-painted steel scabbard (with light surface scratches), a leather frog, and a portepee, making this a well-preserved and highly collectible ensemble.
