2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger by Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen
This 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger is in very good overall condition and remains exceptionally clean. The blade is excellent, retaining its full original plating, and is clearly maker-marked Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen. Above the trademark there is a small Luftwaffe “eagle with 5” Waffenamt inspection stamp — such acceptance marks with an eagle and number were routinely applied to indicate factory inspection and approval during production for the German armed forces.
The grip has an attractive deep yellow to yellow-brown tone — a color spectrum known on these daggers, whose celluloid grips were typically produced in shades of white, yellow, or orange.
Its original wire wrap remains tight and nicely springy. The grip shows a few small age-related hairline cracks, which are often seen on period examples.
The scabbard is in excellent condition, straight and free of dents or damage, showing only a pleasing, even patina.
The dagger is complete with its original portepee, correctly and authentically tied to the grip, and also includes its original hanger. Both pieces are in very good condition with no significant damage.
Overall, this is a fine and clean example of a 2nd Model Luftwaffe dagger — an excellent addition to any collection. All minor details and natural signs of age are clearly visible in the photographs.
