A very rare German trench fighting knife (Kampfmesser) from the Second World War, featuring a distinctive wide blade reminiscent in shape and dimensions of the blade found on the German Luftwaffe gravity-operated paratrooper knife (Fallschirmjäger-Kappmesser).
The blade is in excellent collector's condition. The original factory Gross Grading is clearly visible on the blade surface. The blade is clean, with no corrosion spots or other noticeable defects. No evidence of resharpening has been observed.
The wooden handle is secured with two metal rivets. Its surface features characteristic transverse grooves, providing a secure grip. At the base of the handle, a pronounced projection transitions into a small guard section in front of the blade, giving the knife its distinctive appearance.
The metal scabbard retains its original black finish and is fitted with a metal clip for attachment to a belt or boot.
Dimensions:
- Overall length in scabbard: 22.5 cm
- Blade length: 11.5 cm
An exceptionally rare collector's piece that seldom appears on the market. Its unusual construction, distinctive blade profile, and excellent state of preservation make it a valuable addition to any collection of German fighting knives and military equipment from the Second World War.
