This SS Allach Sitting Dachshund is a wonderful and highly desirable example of the figural sculptures for which Allach is best known. It is a finely detailed depiction of a dachshund, elegantly rendered in high-quality porcelain.
The piece retains its beautiful original creamy coloration, and the factory-applied glaze preserves an attractive, glossy surface. It is clearly marked underneath with “Allach” in Fraktur script, along with the intertwined SS rune emblem used as the factory hallmark. These markings are correctly applied in green ink and set within a raised octagonal border. Beneath is the numeral “2,” and above appears the name of the designer of this piece, Theodor Kärner.
This Allach Sitting Dachshund sculpture is in outstanding condition, with no chips, cracks, or any form of damage. The surface is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, presenting as near mint. Overall, the condition of this display piece is excellent.
The Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was established as a private enterprise in 1935. In 1936, it was acquired by Heinrich Himmler to produce works of art intended to represent, in his view, authentic Germanic culture. Production was based in Allach, the largest subcamp of Dachau, and utilized forced labor in the manufacture of these pieces.
